On Wednesday 18th  October, our class had a visit from Mr. Seán Duffy of the Galway Beekeepers Association. He brought with him a beehive. We all thought there might be bees in it but it was empty. He spoke to us about the types of bees he keeps and how he cares for them.

He told about life in a beehive and the different types of bees such as worker bees and the queen.

Did you know that the queen can lay up to 2,000 eggs in a day. Bees usually live for around 6 weeks because they are always working so hard.

Bees are very important for the pollination of plants which helps the world have enough food and flowers.
