Today, March 3rd, is World Book Day.
Each child has been given a World Book Day voucher that they can use in exchange for a free World Book Day book from all participating book shops. You can find out a little more about the free books on https://www.worldbookday.com/about-us/ireland/
Some of the classes in the school took part in a webinar with Irish author, Sarah Webb. We heard about why she started writing, how she goes about writing, who her favourite authors are, and much much more. Sarah read to us from her latest book “The Little Bee Charmer of Henrietta Street”.
We also found out some interesting facts about Sarah
- she never really liked English in school, and didn’t really like reading as a child, yet she wrote her first book when she was 10.
- She has a dog called Lucky.
- She writes factual books, as well as fiction for adults and children.
- She loves food, particularly strawberry ice-cream.
