For the past week we have been celebrating Friendship Week. It is a very important week in our School Calendar in Scoil Chaitríona Senior. It is a chance for the students to celebrate and appreciate their friendships but also have the opportunity to make new friends. This plays a very important role in creating a positive school environment for all our students.

This year there is an emphasis on kindness as the school was presented with the “Cineáltas Flag” from the Minister for Education, Norma Foley. The Cineáltas Flag is a symbol of our action to address bullying and promote kindness in our school. The children have designed anti-bullying bunting which we will keep as a reminder of the school’s commitment to kindness.

There were many different activities for each of the classes throughout the week, all organised by our Student Council together with their teachers. Some classes enjoyed Karaoke, cooperative games, and others participated in a scavenger hunt. The children learnt how to sign “Happy Friendship week”, partook in meditations, riddles, board games, singing and lots more.

At Assembly, Ms. Brady spoke to all the children about the importance of friendship and how we can be good friends. Each child received their own name badge and met with students from other classes within their year group. With everyone wearing their own name badge around the school children were encouraged to speak to, and get to know students they may not have spoken to before.

The children also participated in a school survey, where they had the opportunity to voice areas that work and areas that we can work on to make Scoil Chaitríona Senior a safe, happy and positive school for all our students.
