We had a science fair in 5th class room 3. We spent the week exploring different experiments.

First we learned about rockets before creating our own using paper and straws. We then observed and measured their flight paths.

Afterwards, we learned about the different shapes that are used in construction. We learned the importance of  triangles in construction and set the task of creating 3D bridges using marshmallows and cocktail sticks with this information in mind.

We also learned what an acid and base is and investigated what household items are acids or bases using red cabbage.

We looked at capacity and discovered how misleading different shaped containers can be.

Finally we presented all our hard work to some of the other classes and ran some competitions. One of these competitions was a STEM art competition where the other classes were asked to design a bridge incorporating what they had learned into their design.
